      What will you be doing!

      • Taking a leadership role in developing graphics and various communication products, supporting branding and messaging for a highly technical team.
      • Writing communication products in plain language, developing content by interviewing and conferring with scientists and engineers, reviewing technical documents, analyzing and organizing scientific facts and data, and attending meetings to ensure an accurate, current understanding of the subject matter.
      • Preparing graphical content for communication products such as presentations, training, and marketing materials, including animated graphics for illustration purposes.
      • Reviewing communication products of others, improving clarity, organization, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Helping authors communicate their message.
      • Conducting interviews with subject matter experts to inform writing and graphical assignments.
      • Developing communication products, supporting curriculum delivery and ensuring a cohesive look and feel across numerous training modules. This will require:
        • Providing training to staff on how to prepare effective graphical communications.
        • Developing design templates for the team to use when preparing training presentations.
        • Taking ownership of the preparation and delivery of training materials, prepared by yourself as well as other team members.
        • Coordinating and reviewing training materials contributed by others to ensure presentations are functionally correct, use the design templates for consistent appearance, and are effective communication tools.
        • Using tools such as Articulate Storyline to transition PowerPoint material to e-learning format.
      • Taking a leadership role in developing the graphical design of human-machine interfaces for computer applications that incorporate human factors principles.
      • Providing direction and support for producing video materials used to advertise the team's skills, capabilities, and products.
      • Taking a leadership role in developing branding for the team.
      • Taking a leadership role in developing marketing materials for the team and maintaining a marketing website.
      • Participating in project meetings to stay abreast of project developments, as this will be a significant source of information context that will inform writing.
      • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

      What we are looking for:

      • Education
        • A university degree/college diploma in Communications, and/or Journalism and/or Graphic Arts.
      • Experience
        • 2 – 5 years of related employment experience.
        • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment, anticipating and being responsive to team needs with quiet professionalism and efficiency.
        • Experience in user experience/user interface design (UX/UI design), ensuring that users have a positive interaction when using the applications, and includes dashboard design, ensuring behaviour of objects on the dashboard is intuitive, developing storyboards and prototypes, and testing functionality.
        • Experience in web design and video production would be considered an asset.
      • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
        • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and take ownership of commitments and action items.
        • Detail-oriented and strives to anticipate needs before they are requested.
        • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions while maintaining an approachable demeanor.
        • Thorough knowledge of the English language, including composition, grammar, writing style and approach in preparing various effective, well-written, high-quality information materials and reports. Requires expertise in writing original information material in general terms on complex and technical subjects with high accuracy.
        • Demonstrated ability in developing graphics and animation.
        • Sound knowledge of computers with the ability to understand, use, apply, combine and adapt to various software: high working level knowledge of MS-Outlook and MS Office Suite, specifically, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
        • Experience with Articulate Storyline or equivalent, experience in UX/UI development, and experience in video production and editing.
        • Experience in Web development is an asset.
        • Demonstrated aptitude to learn various computer/software programs and aptitude for technical information.
        • Strong priority management and project management skills, with superior ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects with diverse requirements and deadlines.
        • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
      • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
        • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
