    • Assist the Community Engagement team with Forest Preserve District communications and marketing efforts.
    • Create effective content for District social media accounts, including posts, videos, reels and stories for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social media channels.
    • Incorporate current trends and best practices for social media campaigns. Generate engagement reports.
    • Take photographs and videos to help promote the District. Organize digital marketing materials.
    • Design flyers, brochures, signage and promotional materials.
    • Assist with community and special events to promote the District and interact with the public.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for sponsorships and partnerships with the community.
    • Work as Events Assistant when needed at Barbara Belding Lodge at Brewster Creek or Creek Bend Nature Center.
    • Must be a full-time college student at an accredited school with two years minimum course work in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or related field.
    • Must have strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.
    • Must have experience with common computer software such as Microsoft Word, email, Web and social media.
    • Experience with video editing and graphic design skills, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
    • Must be able to work independently. Ability to be outgoing, enthusiastic, courteous, maintain a positive attitude and team spirit.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Current and valid driver’s license that is free from suspension or revocation during term of employment; must maintain insurability with the District’s fleet carrier.
    • Employment is subject to successful results of a criminal history background investigation and satisfactory completion of a physical and drug screen.
    • It shall be the mission of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County to acquire, hold, and maintain lands within Kane County, which contribute to the conservation of natural or historic resources and habitats, flora or fauna; and to restore, restock, protect and preserve such lands for the environmental education, recreation, pleasure and well-being of all its citizens. Our goal is to Preserve and Restore the Nature of Kane County.

      The Community Engagement Department has a full-time Communications & Marketing Intern position available.


      WORKSITE LOCATION: DISTRICT HEADQUARTERS – 1996 S. KIRK RD., SUITE #320, GENEVA, IL 60134

      HOURLY RATE: $16.00

      HOURS: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, MONDAY – FRIDAY, MAY INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS

      Compensation and Benefits
      The hourly rate for this position is $16.00. This position is eligible for the District’s seasonal benefits. Interested applicants may learn more about the District’s competitive compensation program and benefit plans here.
