      Compensation $45,321.00 - $67,891.00

      Position Summary

      The Communications Coordinator is responsible for raising public awareness of and interest in library programs: storytimes, classes, workshops, presentations, performances and special events.

      The primary responsibility of the Communications Coordinator is to produce the quarterly program catalog, which involves collaborating with staff to understand program activities and appeal factors, creating or editing program-related content, and assembling a print publication that presents library programs in a compelling manner.

      Additionally, the Communications Coordinator repackages program content to create engaging email marketing campaigns designed to drive program signup.

      What You’ll Be Working On

      • Lead production of the quarterly program catalog:
        • Edit staff-generated program descriptions to be correct, consistent and compelling.
        • Export program data from the library’s online program calendar; clean and format; import into catalog layout.
        • Augment with original and sourced photography, illustrations and feature articles.
        • Route proofs, incorporate feedback.
        • Coordinate with printer/mailhouse to fulfill printing and delivery.
        • Maintain USPS mailing list of program catalog subscribers.
      • Lead production of weekly email marketing campaigns to drive program enrollment:
        • Collaborate with program coordinators to create email content calendar.
        • Create engaging email content, including copy and images.
        • Implement personalization strategies to tailor email content to recipient interests.
        • Track and analyze performance; identify, suggest and implement opportunities for improvement.
      • Take photos at select library programs/events; edit existing photos for use in print and online.
      • Meet with staff and attend library events to gain understanding and gather information.

      What You’ll Bring

      • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a similar field, or commensurate experience
      • Minimum of two (2) years experience creating marketing communications for an organization or brand
      • Strong communication skills, proficiency with print and email production tools, and an enthusiasm for public libraries and their role in creating a more informed, connected, and equitable society
      • High level of fluency with Adobe InDesign; proficiency with Adobe Photoshop; ability to make minor adjustments to vector images in Adobe Illustrator
      • Proficiency with office software such as MS Word/Excel or Google Docs/Sheets
      • Proficiency with a professional email marketing platform such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact
      • Resourcefulness; ability to independently source information and images on the internet and in shared employee filespace
      • Service-oriented attitude with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and the public in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the library
      • Friendly, collaborative, organized, and proactive disposition with an enthusiasm for public libraries, library programs, and community-building
