Job Description
- Req#: communications-intern-spring-2023-2
- Drafting tweets and Instagram posts to uplift our policy team’s work. You may also assist staff with videos, graphics, emails, newsletters, and reports;
- Assisting with database maintenance and tracking our press interactions and impact using Salesforce;
- Working closely with communications staff and external partners to update unbranded websites;
- Creating graphics that showcase our latest work and upcoming events;
- Monitoring current trends and topics in the higher education landscape;
- Learning about event management by collaborating with our staff on event projects that will help to uplift our policy priorities and gather allies; and,
- Performing other duties as assigned.

- Are a current college student, graduate student, or recent graduate with an interest in the intersection of public policy, communications and digital media, and higher education.
- Have the digital and social media skills we need: We're looking for someone who is very online—up-to-date on the latest trends and memes and knowledgeable about platforms (including X and Instagram) and design tools, like Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite;
- Have new, fresh ideas for our digital marketing strategy. We’re always looking to keep our messaging clean, simple, and sticky;
- Are able to work under short deadlines and deliver in a fast-paced environment;
- Pride yourself on being a strong writer and communicator;
- Are organized and driven by results; and,
- Have an interest in learning more about higher education policy, advocacy communications, or the think tank world.

This is a part-time, PAID INTERNSHIP. We are flexible with scheduling. This position is based in Washington, DC, and Third Way’s in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Hourly rate: $18/hour

Third Way's Higher Education program is looking for a sharp, creative, and enthusiastic person to join our team as our Communications Intern for the spring semester, beginning in February and extending through May. This is a part time, paid opportunity that offers hands-on experience in advocacy communications, and digital media. This individual’s work will directly advance Third Way’s efforts to promote policies that will ensure students and taxpayers truly receive a return on their investment in higher education.
