      Communications Manager, Bilingual

      The Opportunity

      Reporting to the Director of Canada Communications, you’ll be a key member of a rockstar team of communicators that provide outstanding communications and events for our Canadian colleagues. In this role, you’ll develop and deliver communications strategies related to some of our top strategic priorities and initiatives across mainly digital channels that are engaging, insightful and audience focused.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Drive comprehensive executive communications support for some of Manulife’s most senior leaders in Canada
      • Develop integrated communications plans, bring them to life through encouraging programs and tactics, and consistently measure to ensure we’re hitting the mark
      • Build strategic partnerships with key segment and global business partners to capture and share relevant information that ensures colleagues are connected to our global mission, understand our strategy and the role they play in it, take pride in the products and services we offer, and are engaged in our award-winning culture.
      • Collaborate with segment and global communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging, positioning, timing and language
      • Provide direction and liaise with service providers: branding and creative, translation, web and production.
      • Be an engaged and active member of the Manulife Canada Communications team

      Skills Required

      • Excellent writing, presenting and editing skills in English and French
      • At ease advising and partnering with senior executives
      • Outstanding writing and story-telling skills with the ability to work through and simplify sophisticated issues.
      • Significant experience across multiple internal/corporate communications areas (e.g. strategy communication, transformation messaging, engagement, people, culture and brand)
      • Digital-first attitude
      • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities within reasonable timelines
      • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus effectively.
      • A high degree of comfort working in an environment of transformation, where change is a constant
      • Strong attention to detail
      • Innovative, creative, proactive self-starter with a keen sense of urgency and initiative
      • Ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team
      • Advanced proficiency Office 365 applications

      Experience & Education Requirements

      • Bilingualism (French and English)
      • Bachelor’s Degree required in marketing, communications, English, journalism or related field
      • 8+ years of experience in internal/corporate communications
      • External communications/thought leadership experience an asset but not a requirement
      • Large- and small-scale event management experience
      • Experience working with a shared services team; better yet, in a matrix
      • Experience in executive communications - emails, town halls, presentations, speeches, thought leadership, annual communications planning

      Salary & Benefits

      The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

      Primary Location

      Waterloo, Ontario

      Salary range is expected to be between

      $77,250.00 CAD - $139,050.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
