      Preferred Knowledge/Skills :

      Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in the understanding of a global network of professional services firm, a financial services entity or communications consulting and emphasizing the following areas:

      • Supporting the development and deployment of issues management programs at a national or global level in a matrixed organization like a professional services firm, a financial services entity, public office or working at a public relations/communications agency;
      • Working with leaders within business units, public policy and legal to support them across a range of issues, including societal, human capital, audit, tax and consulting;
      • Supporting the execution of proactive and reactive reputational strategies and tactics that meet the firm’s business and communications objectives at a local, national, or global level and managing others to accomplish key objectives;
      • Leveraging a holistic framework for strategic reputation management including the use and deployment of data and analytics to inform response strategy;
      • Supporting proactive and reactive communications strategies related to a range of issues and crises, including supporting team members on how to plan for and respond to adverse public scrutiny and litigation in real-time and in evolving situations;
      • Serving as an external communications member and counselor for issues/crisis within a firm;
      • Helping to manage risk preparedness and response for key stakeholders e.g., employees, clients, policymakers, regulators, media (traditional & social), trust, and recovery, as appropriate;
      • Identifying reporters and industry influencers that would be valuable to supporting and carrying the firm’s messages;
      • Understanding and utilizing media monitoring and public affairs platforms as a tool for reputation management and engagement;
      • Coordinating across teams, particularly communications, public policy, and legal, to coordinate and develop strategies on key company issues and policy positions;
      • Leveraging verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to take complex subject matters and distill them into short, straightforward, digestible content (e.g. emails, op-eds, talking points, briefings, social media) applicable for the D.C. audience;
      • Maintaining a network of policy-based media contacts and using those relationships to drive narrative and messages around key issues, as well as proactively identifying additional reporters and industry influencers that would be valuable to amplify the firm’s messages;
      • Possessing ability to thrive in high-stress situations by projecting confidence and authority to senior business leaders;
      • Understanding and accepting communications as a powerful and crucial business tool; and,
      • Championing innovation and new ideas that will help advance the firm’s strategy, and organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask various responsibilities while working diligently to deliver under time constraints.
