      CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION CLASSIFICATION: JOB TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA MANAGER REPORTS TO: SALARY: GRADE 123 Job Goal: The Communications Media Manager is a senior-level technical position requiring specialized training in the design and conveyance of web and social media content to reach a broad range of audiences and promote the services and initiatives that support school districts and enhance student engagement. The Manager supports the district’s digital communications strategies by conceptualizing, preparing, and producing online solutions and assuring a social media presence. The Manager also supports the Executive Director in building relationships with external media. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree in marketing research, advertising or media communications Three years progressive experience participating and coordinating strategic communications Working knowledge of the best practices, techniques and processes associated with the design, activation, distribution, and oversight of social media accounts and websites Working knowledge of marketing communications, video, media branding, social media, and public information concepts. Creative, visualization editing and program development skills. Knowledge of procedures for organizing, sequencing and staging communication events, contests and ceremonies Requires well-developed language and writing skill to prepare written scripts, speaking points and professional correspondence The ability to identify, design, organize and sequence steps supporting external communications media Requires the specific ability to work with district and site-based administrators, teachers, and students in supporting efforts to present information and materials over social and learning newtworks Must possess valid driver’s license Core Job Functions: Plans, organizes, and coordinates marketing and creative media services that can be used to outreach and keep the community engaged and informed. Uses best practices to aggressively market the District to prospective and current students, families, and alumni. Plans, coordinates, and participates in developing content creation and distribution strategies and processes for communications through social media, web presence and local media. Oversees and integrates the work of media production specialists, media design artists, and content editors so that communications and messaging is distributed effectively to the district’s target audiences. Analyzes and reports on relevant information from social media metrics and key performance indicators to assist with developing social media and web strategies. Comparing metrics with data from other sources for comparing current and emerging trends. Works with external media outlets as partners for reaching the community in areas such as and not limited to pitching stories, answering queries, and coordinating interviews. May prepare and review press releases, public service announcements, photographs, and other media materials on a regular basis. Works with Marketing Manager to gather information from the departments, school sites, and individuals for use in preparing communications releases promoting the District. This includes working with other district departments including athletics to enhance and grow positive media coverage. Confers with administrators and staff to generate concepts and communications objectives, convey web and social media standards and rules for privacy, and assist with designing branding identity, visual content and marketing channels. Oversees training of site and department staff responsible for updating web page content such as contacts, calendars, and events. Conveys standards on content and web etiquette. Provides subject matter leadership on social media best practices. Coordinates and participates in developing distribution strategies and processes for disseminating communications and marketing tools through social media. Coordinates and participates in integrating video content into websites and pages that contain consistent formatting. Coordinates, prepares, sequences, and facilitates production aspects of special events and conferences that may occur on evenings and weekends. May prepare multimedia presentation for broadcast of academic and non-academic processes and materials. Conducts periodic research of industry trends in media communications and operations of other entities. Assures that all materials used by the district have the appropriate permissions, clearances, rights, and releases, and comply with legal requirements. Assures that all productions and content comply with ADA requirements for size and close captioning. The position requires in-depth knowledge of the best practices, techniques, and processes associated with the design, activation, distribution, and oversight of social media content to targeted audiences. Requires working knowledge of marketing research sufficient to understand performance metrics of communications, campaigns, and events. Requires creative, visualization editing and program development skills. Requires knowledge of procedures for organizing, sequencing, and staging communications events, contests, and ceremonies. Requires specialized knowledge of software applications for presentations, creation of documents, editing, and file conversion. Requires working knowledge and skill in using multimedia equipment, common computer-aided office productivity software, and specialized applications commonly used with visual and print-media communications including html coding for front-end web page instructions. Requires well-developed language and writing skill to prepare written scripts, speaking points, and professional correspondence. Requires well developed human relations skills to work collaboratively with others to explain creative and technical concepts, promote ideas, and facilitate in-service level group discussions. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Requires the ability to use near and far vision to write, to read printed materials and computer screens, observe videos and distinguish colors, including monitors and camera view finders. Requires sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary conversation and to project voice within small group settings. Requires manual hand-eye-arm and finger dexterity to use a computer keyboard, pointing device, and specialized multimedia equipment. Requires the ability sit for extended periods of time to accomplish desk work and stand upright and forward flexing lift (occasionally, from overhead, waist and floor levels (25 lbs. max.), carry and move (occasional, 50 lbs. max.) materials and equipment supporting work.
