      Get to Know This Role
      The Communications Specialist is responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of Communications at Sierra Nevada. Primary responsibilities will include writing a wide variety of internal and external communications, maintaining a media tracker, story mining and researching journalists and publications, researching trends and pitching ideas, assisting with external and internal company events, assembling and mailing media kits and samples, interacting and building relationships with media, and occasionally representing the company at public events. Reporting to the External Communications Manager, this person will focus on public relations and earned media, but will also assist with Internal Communications, social media opportunities, and brand partnerships. Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and discretion with company information will be necessary to succeed.

      What You Will Do
      • Write press releases, pitch emails, announcements, and other communications for both external and internal audiences.
      • Maintain media tracker and provide weekly updates to External Communications Manager.
      • Update company intranet with daily industry news, as well as PR wins and relevant stories.
      • Assist on-the-ground with media events, internal company meetings, and large-scale external events.
      • Assemble and ship media kits, samples, and merch to journalists, ambassadors, etc.
      • Research trends in industry and culture and pitch brand-relevant PR ideas and activations.
      • Partner with Communications Managers to build and broaden activations and campaigns.
      • Manage media inbox, vet opportunities, schedule and arrange interview requests, gather information and photo/video/brand assets for media.
      • Develop and write stories for Sierra Nevada Central and manage content platform
      • Ensure close coordination and communication with cross-functional team (inclusive of Communications, Social Media/Brand Partnerships, Brand, Events, Creative, and Connected Commerce).
      • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including some nights and weekends, with travel.

      Please Apply if You Have
      • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
      • 3 years Marketing experience required
      • 2 years public relations, Communications, or agency experience required
      • In-depth knowledge and understanding of news media, PR, and social media platforms.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Strategic self-starter with strong organizational skills.
      • Culturally attuned. Tapped into culture, news, and trends.
      • Strong relationship building and management skills.
      • Previous experience managing budgets and/or contracts preferred.

      Additional Requirements to Consider Before Applying
