- Work with a Motorola MCC7500 computer based radio consoles.
- Monitor and maintain Motorola P25 digital simulcast 800 MHz trunked radio infrastructure.
- Program, align and repair Motorola P25 portable and mobile subscriber radios.
- Support a variety of 911 (Public Safety Answering Points) equipment such as a computer based 911 phone system, a computer base aided dispatch system, automated fire paging system, and digital logging system.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to critical equipment.
- Support in-building bi-directional amplifier/distributed antenna systems in county buildings.
- Install, support, and troubleshoot various types of antenna systems both with mobile and fixed locations.
- Completion of an approved trade, vocational, or technical school or related educational program in wireless and electronic communication equipment or similar electronic technology area and two years or more of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, programming, and operation of related communications equipment including portable, mobile, and fixed end equipment in the VHF and UHF, 800 MHz, and microwave radio bands.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit .
- Lift and carry up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with the installation of:
- Cabling systems including Cat5/Cat6 data cabling, 50-ohm and 75-ohm RF cabling, fiber optics, connectors, terminations, and patch panels.
- Audio visual systems.
- Network switches, routers, firewalls, servers, and clients.
- Ability to:
- Diagnose defects in communications equipment operation and perform skilled shop work in repair of radio and electronic communications equipment.
- Understand the methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in communications system testing, repair, installation, and maintenance work.
The Technology Services division of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office offers communications technology solutions to support the Sheriff's Office, various county government units, and most local public safety and public service agencies within Hennepin County. The division's staff are tasked with deploying and maintaining essential wireless voice and data network infrastructure, as well as end-user equipment.

There is no public transportation to this site. The primary work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 pm, with the possibility of a structured flexible schedule (i.e., Monday-Thursday, Tuesday-Friday, etc.) as well as periodic 24/7 on-call schedule rotation to cover evenings, weekends, and holidays. Based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis.
