- Bachelor’s Degree in communication, marketing, public relations or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in community engagement, public relations, marketing or communications
- Knowledge of the communities within College Station ISD
- Effective oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Working knowledge of graphic design and/or video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, district personnel, business partners, and community
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and connect with a variety of stakeholders – parents, staff, and community partners
- Demonstrated excellent organization and time management skills with verifiable experience in maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated competence in problem solving, independent and critical thinking and conflict resolution with students, families, community members and district staff
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive relations and collaborate with diverse groups including but not limited to families, students, employees, foundation board members, school board members, and other community members
- Demonstrated ability to work nontraditional hours including after school, evenings, and Saturdays
- Ability to work effectively with an informed, involved and well-informed district community
- Ability to develop mutual trust and respect among all stakeholders
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner and encourage open dialogue
- Ability to multitask, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to embrace and promote the district’s vision
- Engage with parents, family and community members to encourage participation in district initiatives;
- Collaborate with department leaders, staff, and District communications team members to plan, develop and implement strategies and initiatives that strengthen community relationships;
- Coordinate volunteer opportunities for CSISD schools;
- Create and distribute marketing materials to promote programs and educate the community, as necessary;
- Design and implement various family involvement programs and services;
- Meet regularly with community stakeholders to identify needs and areas of interest;
- Collect data on volunteerism, family activities and community programs to see their effectiveness and report on results as appropriate;
- Respond to inquiries and provide information concerning family and community engagement opportunities;
- Develop business partnerships within the community that serve the district in a variety of ways; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.

Primary Purpose:
The community engagement coordinator serves with the communications department
and works with parents, families, community members, and businesses to build
partnerships that support College Station ISD schools. This position supports student
achievement by providing families and students with information on programs and
services available to them; customizing programs to meet campus needs in welcoming
families and the community to engage with CSISD schools; developing
marketing/messaging activities, utilizing advocacy and decision-making to recruit and
increase parental participation; and fostering an ongoing partnership between the home,
school and community.

Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned. The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail. There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Regularly perform multiple, highly complex, tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions and compliance with legal guideline. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances and integrating into different school environments. Occasionally work prolonged and irregular hours.
