      Summary Objective

      The purpose of this position is to develop and implement overall plan for community outreach and engagement for community development and housing programs and projects.
      This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
      The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

      • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
      • Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
      • Cultivates relationships with community stakeholders including neighborhood and faith-based organizations, businesses, other civic/social organizations, and community residents in line with departmental strategic goals.
      • Coordinates within Develop Louisville and other Metro departments to ensure adequate representation at community events.
      • Coordinates community requests for information and educational opportunities.
      • Develops, organizes, and implements community education and awareness campaigns regarding community development and housing programming, including printed and digital materials.
      • Monitors success of community engagement strategies and collaborate with Develop Louisville leadership to make revisions as needed.
      • Initiates equity-based community engagement strategies for community development and housing projects.
      • Collaborates with other Metro Departments, including Metro TV, to expand Develop Louisville’s digital presence.
      • Possesses understanding of Develop Louisville, Louisville Metro Government, and other available programs to ensure knowledgeable interactions with community residents.
      • Performs related work as assigned.

      MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations or related discipline.
      • Five (5) years of experience in community or neighborhood development or community engagement or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

      OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

      • Must provide one's own source of transportation.
      • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS
      Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

      • Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
