      Summary Description:

      The Lyrasis Content and Scholarly Communication Initiatives (CSCI) team brings forward innovative new service and program offerings to the Lyrasis membership and wider library community. A key program in the portfolio is the Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP) that creates opportunities for libraries and other funders to support innovative new models in scholarly publishing that make scholarly content openly accessible for all to read.

      The Community Engagement Strategist position will support OACIP program development through the recruitment and onboarding of new programs and initiatives. The incumbent will manage daily operations by reaching out to libraries, tracking financial support for OACIP, negotiating and administering participation agreements, and providing ongoing support to OACIP programs.

      The OACIP Community Engagement Strategist will monitor and evaluate program success, compiling data and producing reports on performance and impact. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and leading workshops, webinars, and events focused on OACIP-related topics, representing Lyrasis and OACIP at conferences and other relevant events, and promoting the growth of OACIP by spreading awareness of its contributions to the scholarly communication ecosystem.

      Duties/Job Responsibilities:

      • Perform outreach and engagement activities for libraries, organizations, and potential funders, encouraging participation and support that will sustain the growth of the OACIP programs.

      • Lead community-building efforts that encourage interaction, enhance support for new models and ideas, and increase momentum towards the goal of openly accessible scholarly output.

      • Support ongoing OACIP development by assisting in the recruitment and onboarding of new programs.

      • Participate in the evaluation process for potential new OACIP programs.

      • Negotiate business agreements with OACIP programs.

      • Oversee daily operations of the OACIP initiative, ensuring the tracking of supporter contributions in shared systems and providing ongoing general support to OACIP program participants.

      • Monitor and evaluate program success, compiling data and creating reports on performance and impact in alignment with OACIP strategic goals.

      • Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in key initiatives, including workshops, webinars, and events focused on advancing OACIP program.

      • Represent Lyrasis externally, attending and speaking at relevant conferences, webinars, and other events to promote OACIP and its objectives.

      • Provide back-up support to other Content and Scholarly Communication Initiatives team members as needed.

      • Perform any other additional responsibilities assigned by immediate supervisor or Director.

      Required Skills and Minimum Qualifications:

      • ALA-accredited master's degree in library & information science or related advanced degree is preferred.

      • Five years of experience in related activities in a library, publishing, or consortial environment is strongly preferred.

      • Experience in fundraising and securing external support.

      • Experience in communications and marketing, including content creation and campaigns.

      • Experience engaging with varied communities, including libraries, publishers, and researchers.

      • Familiarity with library trends, publishing technology, and digital content.

      • Proficiency in project management tools.

      • Familiarity with Open Science.

      Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of the academic research process, scholarly publishing, and open access models.

      • Proven ability to collect and analyze data.

      • Experience in project management, managing multiple initiatives and constituents.

      • Experience in contracting within a library or consortial environment.

      • Proven ability to engage and manage relationships with constituents across libraries and academic units.

      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

      • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external constituents.

      • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      • None

      Physical Demands:

      • Conference and meeting travel several times per year.

      • Presentations in group sessions.
