      Job summary

      This role as a band 3 Health care assistant, as a night sitter working 10pm till 07:00am over 5 nights per fortnight

      The team is a countywide team which is centrally based in Droitwich, they visit patients in their own home and support them in remaining at home and preventing admission to hospital, also supporting early discharge from hospital.

      The post is all worked as unsocial hours hence picking up pay enhancements for all hours worked which makes this post more attractive. more money for less hours!!

      Main duties of the job

      As an HCA with Out of hours as a night sitter you will be allocated a patient to visit and remain in their home over night to support with personal care, mobility, toileting needs, supporting family with palliative/end of life care.

      You will work as a lone worker, with the support of the Countywide night nursing team as required.

      A full induction programme will be arranged from your start date where you will have to opportunity to work alongside the registered nurses on Nights and gain competencies in patient care that may be required when supporting a patient on a night sit. Once you are deemed competent and you are ready you will be assigned patients to attend overnight. There will be regular opportunities for supervision with your assigned supervisor.

      The night sitting role is rewarding, in being able to provide a patient and their family individual and holistic care during the night and assisting the patient in remaining in their preferred place of care and preventing admission to hospital.

      You will be joining the Evening and Night team element of one of our dynamic and supportive Neighbourhood Teams to provide a 24-hour admission avoidance service to the population of South Worcestershire which encompasses both urban and rural areas.

      The successful candidate will support nursing staff and deliver independently a high standard of nursing care for patients in their own homes. Ensuring that care provided maintains the individuals privacy and dignity, values diversity and respects cultural and individual rights and choices.

      We are looking for candidates with good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within the team. You should be a committed, highly motivated and forward-thinking individual who is a good team player.

      The successful candidate will also assist the team to develop and achieve team and organizational objectives. They will also participate in staff meetings and training & development activities as necessary to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date.

      Due to the nature of the post the applicant must be able to travel independently and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Whilst a base will be identified, staff can be asked to work anywhere within the Business Unit or Service if necessary.

      • Level 2 qualification (e.g. NVQ2, GCSE Grade A-C) in Care and will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment to post
