      Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 6 mental health nurses to work within our Day and Community team as part of the Welsh Neuropsychiatric service. The Day and Community Neuropsychiatry team is based at Hafan y Coed, University Hospital Llandough, next door to Ash Ward, the Neuropsychiatry Inpatient Ward.

We are an All-Wales specialist tertiary mental health service for individuals who have suffered a serious acquired brain injury. The service provides a comprehensive resource for the assessment, investigation, management and rehabilitation for patients suffering with neuropsychiatric, cognitive, emotional and behavioural problems as a result of that injury.

The All Wales Neuropsychiatry Service is currently undergoing transformation and working towards a hub and spoke, liaison model. This will allow Neuropsychiatry Services to act as a specialist resource to support appropriate management of people with brain injuries to services across Wales. This support will be goal centred, time limited and prudent in approach.

      Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals who are dedicated to providing high-quality person-centred care and who enjoy working collaboratively with a wide multi-disciplinary team. You would be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, compassion and the ability to coordinate your own caseload. As this is an All-Wales Service, staff are often required to travel to support individual's resident to other health boards across Wales. Applications would be welcomed from all individuals with a background of mental health nursing, especially those with experience of neuropsychiatry.

We would welcome people to visit us, to find out more about the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
