      General Position Statement:

      A Community Mortgage Lender works to proactively generate and increase mortgage lending opportunities, particular on residential mortgage loans to consumers with low-to-moderate income and/or secured by property located in low-to-moderate income census tracts. This position will focus on participating in lending programs and establishing relationships with outreach organizations that correlate to BankPlus’ efforts to meet its goals relating to Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) lending and underserved consumers.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Demonstrate effective and compliant origination standards by maintaining a thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Meet high originator customer service expectations with timely and informative responses to inquiries and referrals from contact sources or other BankPlus business channels
      • Conduct interviews and assist prospective borrowers to navigate the online application site. Gather complete loan application information in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives and lock interest rate, as applicable. Advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines. Communicate with borrowers and realtors throughout the loan process, request needed borrower documentation and/or information and track to ensure it is obtained.
      • Monitor assigned originator dashboards to ensure projected production goals and loan activity deadlines and timelines are met. Keep active loan application pipeline up to date within Encompass. Create and track action plans developed for specific markets/segments to achieve Fair Lending goals and other community lending outcomes.
      • Regularly seek to establish additional business referral sources and new mortgage lending opportunities, primarily focusing on underserved communities and low-to-moderate income consumers and geographies.
      • Represent BankPlus at educational seminars, workshops and housing programs to develop relationships with community leaders, realtors, developers, local and state housing non-profit groups to generate and increase mortgage opportunities in targeted areas.
      • Participate in community-based housing seminars jointly with local housing related entities to provide education in financial literacy while promoting community lending products, services, and home ownership to low-and-moderate-income persons.
      • Support a high performing culture through practicing teamwork and communicating with other team members timely and effectively. Track the progress of loans and coordinate with the operations team and outside sources to expedite each loan through the workflow process from application through loan servicing. Keep customers and realtors updated as the loan transitions through the various milestones.
      • Develop strong referral relationships throughout BankPlus. Communicate with the appropriate personnel on loans involving bank secondary or secured financing to ensure all documentation is provided when needed.
      • Participate in the bank’s High-Performance Rewards Connections program. Make referrals to Wealth Management.
      • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, procedures and appropriate regulatory issues as related to daily job functions including by not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy Act; Fair Lending Act; Regulation E, etc. Complete required compliance training and adheres to the bank’s standard of conduct.

      Position Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
      • Five years minimum mortgage loan origination experience.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel, Word and Outlook
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational and time-management skills.
      • Ability to work outside of regular business hours, as deemed necessary and to multi-task and work effectively in a high -pressured environment.
