  The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity seeks to hire a community outreach analyst to contribute to several initiatives at the local and statewide levels. This position will participate in organizing logistics and assisting the Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement with the execution and implementation of ongoing youth development programs and new community initiatives that cross a variety of subject areas, including but not limited to education, employment, health, and housing. This position will have an active level of engagement with AmeriCorps/VISTA and may be asked to participate in events and convenings that support the institute’s goals and strategies. This position will also serve as a liaison between the MBK Ohio statewide network chapters and the Kirwan Institute In addition, the Community outreach analyst will contribute to building partnerships and relationships within the local Columbus area and throughout state of Ohio.

  One of the signature community initiatives coordinated by the community outreach analyst is the statewide MBK Ohio network. MBK Ohio is an extension of former President Barack Obama’s MBK program and is housed at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. Coordination will include but not limited to participating in regular meetings with chapter leaders at the statewide and national level; organizing events; and providing support for local action planning for communities implementing youth development programs. This position will also have an active level of engagement and is partially funded by AmeriCorps/VISTA.

  In addition to the programmatic and logistical support for MBK Ohio, the community outreach analyst will participate in other parts of the institute’s work. They may represent Kirwan in community initiatives, meetings, and events that support the institute’s goals and strategies. They may also be asked to assist in coordinating data collection from community partners to meet established research goals and benchmarks or to assist in the development of funding proposals for community-engaged work that is part of Kirwan’s new strategic plan. This position will require the use of effective communication skills with diverse audiences and involves limited travel in and around the state of Ohio.

  Educational and Experience Requirements

  Required Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree in social psychology, sociology, African/African American Studies, Education, Public Policy, or related social science fields.

  Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of race on public policy and opportunities for underserved communities.

  Strong ability to communicate complex ideas in an accessible manner in writing and orally .

  Previous Experience of 2 years of responsibilities associated with public speaking and writing documents designed for public audiences regarding subjects associated with the study of race and ethnicity

  Desired Qualifications:

  Master’s degree in social psychology, sociology, African/African American Studies, Education, or related social science fields.

  Additional Information:

  The target hiring range for this job profile is $46,100-$61,500. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
