- Shapes CT’s community outreach strategy by attending community meetings, leveraging, and cultivating relationships with key community leaders, and increasing CT’s visibility within low canopied and historically marginalized areas of the greater Washington DC area
- Fosters relationships and develops champions with community-based organizations, faith leaders, elected officials, civic and community leaders that lead to positive engagement of the community and neighborhoods
- Motivates and directs stakeholders to Casey Trees programing including tree plantings, educational classes, and volunteer opportunities.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to guide and inform programing opportunities in targeted areas related to urban forestry
- Maintains sound relationships with government partners
- Conducts community outreach, teaches classes, and assists with organization-wide activities and related events
- Communicates and distributes information/promotional materials including flyers, brochures, publications, press releases, etc.
- Leads and provides support for trainings, classes, workshops, tours, demonstrations, etc.
- Collaborates across the organization to execute grants, contracts, programs, and activities
- Maintains knowledge of horticulture, arboriculture, forestry, and urban forestry
- Plants, prunes and provides tree care techniques
Summary
The Community Outreach Forester develops and implements community programming aimed at fostering, growing and educating community partnerships about the urban forest. The incumbent serves as a member of the Education Team, engaging both internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring outreach and educational outcomes with community to promote Casey Trees’ mission of restoring, enhancing, and protecting the tree canopy of the nation’s capital and surrounding jurisdictions.
Compensation and Benefits:
$64,000-$69,000 annually with competitive benefits upon hire, including employer paid premiums for health, dental, vision insurance for employees, paid sick, vacation and holiday time and a 403(b) match after 6 months.
