- Assist the Recruiting Sergeant with recruitment processes, including advertising job openings on social media, scheduling interviews, pre-employment testing, and managing candidate communication.
- Coordination of community police department events such as Cops and Kids Christmas, National Night out, Community Shredding Event, Kops and Kids Basketball, Drug Take Back Program, and Police Explorers.
- Coordinates the following public service programs: Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Bullying Programs/Presentations, Citizens Police Academy, Child ID Kits, Lock It Or Lose It Signage to local businesses, Safe Halloween Programs, Child Seat Technician, Bicycle Safety, Bank Robbery Training, Crime Free Multi-Housing and Code Blue Liaison.
- Develops, schedules, and publishes content on social media platforms to promote the department’s activities, values, and opportunities.
- Helps to maintain the Clovis Police Department’s website.
- Collaborates with schools to implement educational programs and presentations highlighting law enforcement careers and public safety.
- Coordinates with local businesses and organizations to develop partnerships that support department initiatives and community safety.
- Assist the Recruiting Sergeant at job fairs, community events, and school career days.
- Tracks and analyzes recruitment and outreach efforts to assess impact and improve strategies.
- Creates flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials for recruitment and public awareness campaigns.
- Maintains records of outreach events, contacts, and partnerships.
- Designs information for the public to include safety tips, general information either on social media, trifolds, and/or handouts.
- May emcee as location events to include the Mayor’s Ball, Domestic Violence Fundraises, etc.
- General upkeep of the Mall Substation and provide safety programs.
- Is comfortable speaking on the radio for various interviews and announcements.
- Member of various committees to include Local Emergency Planning, United Way, Curry County Wellness Council, Big Brother/Sister, etc.
- Assists and/or coordinates fundraises such as Guns vs. Horses, tug of war, basketball, etc.
- Manage local grants/donation.
- Assists with administrative tasks, such as preparing reports, coordinating meetings, and managing department resources related to outreach.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency is required, with at least some college experience; an associate's degree in communications, public relations, graphic design, website design, video creation and editing, or a related field is preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
The Community Outreach Coordinator performs a variety of administrative, recruitment, and public engagement functions to promote the Clovis Police Department. The role involves supporting the Recruiting Sergeant with recruitment efforts. This position is also tasked with enhancing the department's visibility through social media and organizing outreach events. The position requires creativity, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. The work involves substantial interaction with the public, schools, and businesses to strengthen community ties and assist in recruitment strategies.About the company
