      POSITION: Community School Coordinator

      DEPARTMENT: Student Services

      LOCATION: 8 positions (Washington, Northeast, Braddock, CCTE, Cresaptown, Mt. Savage, Beall, Cash Valley)

      REPORTS TO: Principal and Director of Student Services

      SALARY: Unit I Salary Scale + 15 days Per diem

      OVERVIEW OF POSITION: To establish strategic partnerships between the school and other community resources that promote student achievement, positive learning conditions, and the well-being of students by providing wraparound services and academic enrichment experiences. The coordinator will ensure that the initiatives and programs address and support system-wide goals and are aligned to the guidelines and requirements of the Maryland State Department of Education and Senate Bill 1030.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Bachelor’s degree required with experience in building community partnerships, working with families, and/or grant management preferred.
      • Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.
      • Demonstrated success in leadership positions.
      • Ability to make decisions independently based upon experience, judgment, and established departmental procedures and policies.
      • Advanced verbal and written communication and human relations skills.
      • Ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information in a professional manner.
      • Ability to build trust and maintain relationships.
      • Management and organizational skills that show an ability to prioritize, work under time constraints, and demonstrate flexibility in an environment of multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
      • Ability to make regular visits to homes, schools, other locations, and state meetings sometimes with little notice.
      • Willingness and ability to lead in the development of partnerships that support the mission and vision of ACPS, MSDE, and Senate Bill 1030
      • Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
      • Regular on-time attendance and the ability to work extended hours after school and during the summer

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      • Manages resources and budget at the school level related to the COP grant.
      • Assists with preparations, communications, and management of COP grant reports.
      • Develops and facilitates a community/family advisory group focused on evaluating and amending the community school needs assessment and implementation plans.
      • Coordinates, along with administration, the collection, review and action planning of student performance data including overall and chronic attendance and withdrawals.
      • Participates as a regular member of the school’s student support teams and helps facilitate data-driven conversations regarding discipline and suspension
      • In collaboration with the Principal and Community School Nurse, conducts a needs assessment of the physical, behavioral, and emotional needs of students, their families, and the community.
      • Facilitates the coordination of wraparound services, including behavioral health services, to meet identified student, family, and community needs
      • Furnishes and interprets information/data on at-risk students to authorized individuals and/or groups.
      • Facilitates and/ or participates in student/family case management and outreach including home visits and family/student conferences as necessary
      • Assesses student challenges using data from available sources and seeks the assistance of other specialists, as needed.
      • Supports the Implementation of Restorative Practices.
      • Participates/leads workshops, special committees, and job-embedded professional development.
      • Keeps clear, concise and up to date records of all activities.

      PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Familiarity with community agencies.
      • Familiarity with grant guidelines/expectations, fiscal management and monetary expenditures.
      • Management/Supervision experience
      • Knowledge of Restorative Practices
      • Coaching experiences
