      Job summary

      Newport Pagnell Medical Centre are seeking a community staff nurse to work 23.5 hours per week for our community nursing team. You will be a registered nurse (1st level), be a car driver and ideally have community experience, although training can be offered.

      The successful candidate will work alongside a forward thinking, supportive integrated clinical team (practice nurses, district nurses, specialist nurses and community matrons) managed by a lead nurse. This post offers the opportunity to provide innovative district nursing services focused on caring for housebound patients. Our approach is holistic and evidence based in the assessment, implementation and evaluation of practice.

      Main duties of the job

      • Provide skilled nursing intervention/care to patients of any age or condition in partnership with the community nurse and the clinical direction of the general practitioners at the practice.
      • Undertake delegated duties under the supervision of the community nurse team leader or senior on duty.
      • Take responsibility for the caseload in the absence of the team leader including new visits/assessments, workload management and allocation, dealing with referrals etc.
      • Maintain close liaison with the community nurse team leader, the team, GP and other members of the primary care team and wider health and social care team.
      • Apply current infection control policy issues and universal precautions.
      • Encourage patients towards self care and independence.
      • Maintain up to date knowledge of methods of rehabilitation.
      • Demonstrate, teach and supervise the nursing care that families/carers can safely undertake.
      • Ensure that adequate medical supplies, equipment and other materials are maintained.

Based in excellent premises, our committed teams deliver a wide range of general medical services. We have an 'outstanding' CQC rating.

      We are a large training practice based in the town of Newport Pagnell with another surgery in the Willen area.
