      This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Community Youth Development Teacher who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach classes for youth-based curriculum including but not limited to the following areas: STEM, sports and fitness, arts, and martial arts.

      EDUCATION

      • Required: High School Diploma or GED
      • Preferred: Some College

      CERTIFICATION

      • Preferred: First Aid and CPR Certification (or obtained within 90 days).

      EXPERIENCE

      • Required: Successful Teaching/Coaching Experience.

      JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Report directly to Project Manager.
      • Establish clear rules and expectations of the program for the students.
      • Maintain order and structure during class.
      • Actively engage students in applicable subject area each day.
      • Provide flexibility with lesson plans and activity changes for students.
      • Manage students’ behavioral issues.
      • Ensure space is safe, clean and organized.
      • Perform other related duties as required.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

      • Ability to be flexible with lesson plans and activity changes
      • Possess excellent communication, oral and social skills.
      • Maintain a positive attitude under stress.
      • Be adaptable when dealing with a variety of ages.
      • Able to follow directions and chain of command.
      • Knowledge of the applicable subject area.
      • Ability to manage children in the public-school setting in the 79107 zip code.

      Salary: $20.00 per hour.

      Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies, sports equipment, and program supplies as needed. Possess the ability to walk, bend, stand, squat or sit on the floor (with students.) Be able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.

      Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

      Work Environment: Public school setting in the 79107 zip code.
