      Position Overview:

      Reporting to the Compensation Manager in Canada, the Compensation Analyst helps supports, maintains, and communicates a compensation system that is internally equitable, externally competitive, and in line with Finning's compensation philosophy. The Compensation Analyst helps to build the bridge between Finning's compensation strategy, functional programs, policies and guidelines.

      For this position, the expected salary range is between $75,000 - $90,000 annually. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications.

      Job Description:

      Salary surveys and market research:

      • Monitor external competitive practices and benchmarks through formal salary survey participation and through networking with peers at other companies
      • Partner with the HR Services team and the business and use your knowledge of job functions and disciplines to submit accurate data for salary surveys
      • Work with our salary survey providers annually to examine compensation benchmark roles to ensure we are aligned with our compensation philosophy
      • Formulate preliminary recommendations regarding market movement and associated adjustments needed to base or incentive compensation
      • Examine current market data on perquisites and allowances and provide recommendations on enhancements and/or changes to current practices

      Support annual compensation processes and projects:

      • Support the annual processes of salary adjustments and short-term incentives.
      • Partner with Finning's internal Workday team and serve as a super-user for assigned functional areas
      • Test system changes, ensure data integrity, analyze reports and look for process improvement opportunities
      • Support Workday upgrades and testing
      • Lead specific projects that are in alignment with our strategic priorities
      • Examine existing policies and practices and use knowledge of best practices to recommend changes/enhancements and alignment opportunities
      • Build compensation knowledge base in the HR services team to ensure that our programs are consistently administered and in compliance with company policies/guidelines and regulatory requirements

      Job evaluation and banding:

      • Partner with our HR services team and the business in the development of quality job profiles to enable accurate job classification
      • Complete job evaluations to appropriately and consistently assign roles to bands across all of our Canadian operations

      Specific Skills:

      • Advanced Excel™ skills (i.e. V-look up’s, pivot tables, if statements, charts/graphs, macros etc.)
      • Strong planning and organizational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities
      • Detail-oriented with a track record of achieving high-quality results
      • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines
      • Customer-centric
      • Self-driven, naturally curious and have a knack for translating data into knowledge that supports decision making

      Education & Experience:

      • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
      • 3+ years of Human Resources experience
      • 1 – 2 years of experience in analysis and reporting in a corporate environment
      • Compensation knowledge and experience is considered an asset
      • CCP (certified compensation professional) designation is considered an asse
