      Main duties of the job

      Sonderwell is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Complex Care Assistant to support a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a school setting in Ilkley. The role involves providing tailored 1:1 care to help the child participate in daily activities, access learning, and stay safe and supported throughout the school day. The successful candidate will have experience in or a willingness to be trained in complex care procedures such as tracheostomy care, suctioning, enteral feeding, and oxygen therapy.

      Hourly Rate: £14.00 Location: Ilkley Shift Pattern: 2 Days During the Week, 08:20 AM – 15:50 PM + Bank Shifts

Sonderwell is looking for a Complex Care Assistant to support a child in Ilkley during the school day. Due to the location, a driver is essential for this role.

      About the Role

      As a Complex Care Assistant at Sonderwell, you’ll play a vital role in supporting a child with SEN within the school setting. You will be providing 1:1 care to help the child participate in daily activities, access learning, and stay safe and supported throughout the school day.

      We are looking for someone reliable, empathetic, and confident in delivering person-centred care. If you’re enthusiastic about supporting children to live fulfilling lives and are either experienced in or eager to train in complex care, we want to hear from you.

      Key Responsibilities
      • Provide tailored care and emotional support to meet the child’s unique needs

      • Assist with physical and personal care requirements throughout the school day

      • Escort the child safely to and from school (driving required)

      • Monitor and manage the child’s medical needs under guidance

      • Communicate effectively with school staff, family, and the wider care team

      Essential Clinical Experience

      We are seeking applicants with experience in, or a willingness to be trained in:

      • Tracheostomy care

      • Oral, tracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning

      • Enteral and PEG feeding

      • Oxygen therapy

      • A caring, patient, and adaptable nature

      • Experience working with children or in care (preferred but not essential)

      • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team

      • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to location

      • Willingness to undertake specialist training and continuous development
