      Position Purpose :

      The Compliance & Quality Specialist’s purpose is to continually evaluate and improve processes at all levels of care throughout all Banyan departments for a safe and optimal client experience. The Compliance & Quality Specialist is responsible for Banyan’s initiatives, licensing, acquisitions, and program launch functioning and management. The Compliance & Quality Specialist ensures all Banyan locations and various programs adhere to relevant industry specifications, standards, regulations, and laws at the local, state, and federal levels. The purpose is not all-inclusive and is subject to change.

      Education Requirement:

      • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field or applicable experience

      • Ability to work as a team member and have management, communication, organizational, written, and interpersonal skills.

      • Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal, Written, and Computer Communication Skills.
      • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws
      • Knowledge of state substance use and mental health regulations.
      • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and elements of performance
      • Ability to multitask
      • Ability to travel to various locations nationally.
      • Knowledge of healthcare trends, care processes, and best practices that support regulatory requirements.
      • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with improvement techniques (methods), including root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis as applied to the healthcare setting.
      • Requires skill to plan, organize, and direct teams and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations where proposals involve substantial organizational resources, require extensive changes in established procedures, or conflict with the proposed requirements.
      • Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles of project management and change management.
      • Familiarity with clinical documentation, i.e., patient chart

      • SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION:

      Direct supervision is provided by the Compliance & Quality Manager as needed and indicated by specific tasks and assignments.

      • PERFORMANCE/PROFICIENCY STANDARDS

      Performance standards are integrated into the position’s responsibilities. The principal functions of the position identified shall be considered as a partial description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.

      Specific Areas of Responsibility to Position Revision:

      • Obtain federal/state/city/county and agency facility licenses from initiation to completion.
      • Edit and write Policies and Procedures for mental health/substance use disorder facilities.
      • Liaison with state and county agencies who oversee the issuance of all levels of care program and facility licenses.
      • Prepares all related documentation for the licensing and application processes.
      • Monitor, manage, and track license renewals of existing facility licenses.
      • Communicate and work with the internal team about specific state requirements to ensure the program follows federal/state/local regulations.
      • Serves as a resource for all regulations, laws, and standards.
      • Regularly review websites and publications for changes in standards/requirements with communication to relevant personnel and departments.
      • Regularly interprets the relevance of standards/regulations in relation to Banyan’s practices.
      • Advises staff on developing and implementing procedures to achieve and sustain compliance and audits to measure the effectiveness of new processes or action plans, including designing audit tools, sampling methods, and collating and displaying data for analysis.
      • Manages/assists with any compliance database systems, including training, updates, security management, report generation, etc.
      • Develops and assists in the survey/audit preparation timeline, including identifying activities and ensuring personnel are held accountable for preparation activities.
      • Provides ongoing progress reports on all initiatives and projects to the direct supervisor.
      • Implements The Joint Commission Standards throughout all Banyan’s companies to attain and maintain TJC Accreditation.
      • Participate in Compliance & Quality team meetings as directed by the direct supervisor.
      • Monitor program staff compliance with behavioral health policy and procedure.
      • Assists with the launch of new locations that may necessitate research for regulations outside of the current states in which we operate.
      • Manages various projects while assuring timely completion to satisfy regulatory compliance requirements.
      • Monitors and maintains the development and implementation of the operational quality improvement program in the various behavioral health departments.
      • Completes data entry with speed and accuracy.
      • Implementation of organizational strategic quality plans that significantly increase behavioral health department performance.
      • Commitment and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
      • Completion of annual evaluations per Joint Commission standards.
      • Monitor and evaluate external Data Comparisons in collaboration with data reports.
      • Create and evaluate annual PI Projects
      • Create and revise the annual Disaster Plan and conduct Disaster Drills and meetings per regulation.
      • Collects organizations Annual Flu Vaccine Initiative data in order to analyze and develop reports for committee review.
      • Review/Revision/Creation and Maintenance of P&P as needed and annually.
      • Oversee and evaluate satisfaction surveys annually.
      • Evaluates and tracks incidents, accidents, and occurrences in accordance with policies and procedures.
      • Evaluates the safety of the physical environment.
      • Implementation of State Regulations and Certification requirements.

      • Creation and annual maintenance of Banyan Treatment Center Disaster Plan and Drill assisted by the Safety Officer
      • Implement tools and practices that ensure seamless primary and behavioral health care integration.
      • Conduct chart audits, as needed, to monitor the quality of care for behavioral health.
      • Work collaboratively with behavioral health team members to meet program outcomes.
      • Develop and maintain up-to-date databases to track program outcomes.
      • Track compliance with outcome measures outlined in program contracts.
      • Ensure Nursing and Tech staff maintain quality checks on all waived testing.
      • Performs investigations based on supervisors’ guidance and investigation criteria.
      • Manages various projects while assuring timely completion to fulfill quality assurance requirements.

      Schedule:

      • 8 hour shift
      • Monday to Friday
      • Occasional after hours work needed

      Job Type: Full-time

      Salary: $55-65k annually - compensation based on experience and education within the behavioral healthcare sector, compliance and quality assurance and education relevance.
