      Overview

      About the Role

      Provides support to the Compliance, Privacy, and Ethics Manager in addressing matters related to privacy, compliance, and ethics. Assists in maintaining and ensuring adherence to University Hospital’s policies and procedures concerning the protection and access of protected health information (PHI), in alignment with federal and state regulations and institutional privacy standards. Contributes to ensuring the hospital’s compliance with HIPAA and other applicable laws and regulations. Participates in periodic risk assessments and ongoing monitoring of key compliance, privacy, and ethics program components. Supports the completion and review of State Ethics Program forms and aids in the implementation of compliance initiatives. Monitors the Compliance Helpline, assists in investigations, and supports compliance and privacy education efforts. Also provides assistance with special projects as assigned.

      Responsibilities

      What You’ll Do

      • Supports the Compliance, Privacy, and Ethics Manager in handling issues related to privacy, compliance, and ethical standards.
      • Assists in upholding University Hospital’s policies and procedures regarding the use and protection of protected health information (PHI), ensuring alignment with federal and state laws.
      • Helps maintain compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations through active participation in audits, assessments, and monitoring activities.
      • Contributes to the execution and review of State Ethics Program documentation and supports various compliance initiatives.
      • Monitors the Compliance Helpline, documents concerns, and assists in the investigation and resolution of reported issues.
      • Participates in the development and delivery of compliance and privacy training and awareness programs.
      • Provides general support for compliance operations and contributes to special projects as needed

      Qualifications

      What You’ll Bring

      • Bachelor’s degree required; two (2) or more years of relevant experience in healthcare, compliance, or privacy preferred.
      • Knowledge of current healthcare laws and regulations is essential.
      • Additional related experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
      • Strong attention to detail with the ability to assist in preparing work plans and reports.
      • Effective oral and written communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences.
      • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
      • Certification required or willingness to obtain within one year of hire:
        • CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) or
        • CHPC (Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance) from the Health Care Compliance Association, or
        • CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

      Compensation

      The expected salary range for this position is YS/22S:$66,251.00 -$91,979 in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
