      Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

      This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities based on business need.

      This position assists the Tax Credit Compliance Manager and Supervisors with a variety of Section 42 compliance monitoring responsibilities and other tasks including – but not limited to – those described below:

      • Research property, agency, and housing program requirements and work with department leaders to incorporate the same into company policy, procedures, forms, tasks lists, and training material
      • Evaluate resident applications and recertification paperwork for LIHTC (and other housing program) compliance eligibility and consistency with management software
      • Log and monitor deadlines associated with housing program compliance tasks and work with property, department, and company leaders to ensure obligations are met and risk is minimized and eliminated
      • Coordinate and prepare written management responses to audits and inspections of physical conditions, tenant files, and reporting
      • Prepare and submit LIHTC and other regulatory reports as needed using information gathered from the property management software, regulatory documents, leasing team members, and other sources
      • Provide ongoing coaching and training to property team members on LIHTC and other housing program requirements
      • Coordinate and lead regular touch-base calls as-needed with property team members and other leaders to ensure progress on compliance-related objectives
      • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with agencies and other partners, attending virtual and in-person training workshops as needed
      • Occasional travel may be required, but generally no more than once per quarter

      Experience:

      • Required
        • Prior work experience in tax credit compliance
        • Computer experience and an intermediate to high level of skill in the following software programs is required: Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
        • Must be highly detailed-oriented while also being able to exercise sound judgement in problem-solving so that projects and other tasks sustain forward momentum
        • Must be able to remain professionally flexible when priorities and requests change and have a proven ability to handle and prioritize a continuous array of deadline-oriented projects and tasks
        • Must have the ability to evaluate requirements and obligations based on regulatory documentation and apply those requirements to policy and procedure development and quality control processes
        • Must have a high level of professional and ethical standards
        • Must have strong customer service skills
        • Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills
        • Must be organized, self-starter, and motivated
      • Preferred
        • HCCP (or equivalent) certification non-certified candidates may be hired only with the expectation of earning the HCCP designation after six months of employment with MBM and two years of industry-related experience - whichever comes later
        • Prior work experience in the Project-Based Section 8, Public Housing, or Section 8 Voucher programs preferred
        • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional and Yardi Voyager is preferred along with the required ability to acquire skill in new software programs

      Work Environment/Physical Demands:

      • This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/printers, and filing cabinets.
      • This position requires sitting, bending, stooping, or standing as necessary. Our offices are equipped with electronic desks for standing or sitting.
