Job Description

- Supports the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer periodically review and revise the compliance program in light of changes in the organization’s needs, laws and regulations, policies and procedures, government and private payors and accreditation requirements.
- Supports the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer ensure the organization is in compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), state licensing requirements, and applicable accreditation standards-e.g. CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities),
- Conducts billing, coding, reimbursement, and documentation audits based on the Bancroft fiscal year compliance work plan.
- Reviews the compliance work plan and suggests items to add/delete and makes recommendations on changes in the frequency of audits in the work plan based on annual risk assessments and audit findings.
- Prepares summary reports for the Staff Compliance Committee, Compliance subcommittees and/or Board Compliance Committee as needed.
- Helps to identify compliance risk areas and recommends the development of formal audit reports. Ensures audit reports contain findings and recommended solutions, and works with business owners to ensure that they implement plans to resolve compliance issues.
- Ensures all Bancroft policies are reviewed on a timely basis and supports all Bancroft policy management functions including working with business owners to ensure they review and update policies, maintains and updates all policy management spreadsheets, and posts policies on the Bancroft Intranet (the Buzz) on a monthly basis.
- Reviews all monthly sanction screening reports to ensure Bancroft deploys no excluded individuals, providers, or vendors.
- Supports the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer by developing content for educational and training programs to improve compliance based on the elements of an effective Compliance Program and helps to ensure that all employees and management are knowledgeable of, comply with, Bancroft’s Code of Ethical of Conduct as well as applicable federal and state laws.
- As directed by the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer investigates, and responds promptly and effectively to compliance and HIPAA related queries.
- Prepare reports to identify trends of reports received in the Compliance Hotline.
- Support investigations reported for compliance and/or Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) concerns under the direction of the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer.
- Work collegially all team members of the Legal, Risk and Compliance Department.
- Leads the promotion and facilitation of a team approach to compliance by effectively collaborating with all Bancroft programs and departments to identify and address current and potential compliance issues. Serves as a resource to program management and others regarding various compliance regulations requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree AND possesses at least one year of compliance, regulatory, or audit experience in healthcare or experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, brain injuries, or mental illness.
- Relevant work experience of three years in compliance, HIPAA Privacy, CARF or other accreditation standards, payers or providers, or working with people with disabilities may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance preferred.

Bancroft is currently seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our Legal, Risk and Compliance Team.
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for conducting audits for Bancroft’s Compliance and Privacy Program, developing necessary training, conducting reviews and supporting policy management and follow-up. The Compliance Specialist ensures that all departments/programs in Bancroft are in compliance with regulatory, contractual, and HIPAA privacy and security requirements
