General description
The Unclaimed Property Division of the Texas Comptroller's Office is responsible for returning unclaimed personal property to it's rightful owners. We are looking for team members that are detailed-oriented, analytical, and have excellent customer service skills. Experience in the legal field is a plus.
This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.
Minimum Qualifications
· Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
· Three (3) years of customer service experience.
· One (1) year of experience processing Unclaimed Property claims.
Preferred Qualifications
· Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field.
· Experience responding to customer telephone and email inquiries
· Experience working in a call center.
· Experience at a banking institution or brokerage firm.
· Communicating effectively in writing and verbally in both English and Spanish.
Substitution:
One additional year of full-time experience providing customer service or making decisions on customer claims may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
Respond to email, letter, telephone inquiries and web requests from claimants. Research and generate claims based on written correspondence and telephone inquiries. Conduct research on numerous property types, including but not limited to banking accounts, money orders, official checks, traveler cheques, insurance policies, earnest money and escrow accounts. Submit requests for documentation to claimants.
Responsible for section processes and duties as assigned including but not limited to assignment of correspondence and tracking/monitoring section logs. Process and interpret as assigned actions taken on historical securities and securities rollbacks.
Review, edit, and determine the validity of unclaimed property claims. Process and decision various types of claims as assigned, including but not limited to owner, power of attorney, estate/executor, minor, guardianship, holder refunds and reimbursements, and claims containing stock properties and mineral interests. Process, examine, edit, and update claimed properties; documents actions; and monitors claims for completion of subsequent actions including quality control review.
