- Conduct field testing and inspections on materials such as:
- Soils
- Reinforcing steel
- Concrete
- Masonry
- Structural steel
- Fireproofing
- Metal decking
- Roofing
- Asphalt paving
- Review construction sites for code and specification compliance.
- Coordinate with contractors and field personnel.
- Prepare detailed Daily Field Reports documenting contractor activities and compliance status.
- Communicate project progress with the department manager.
- Transport material samples and equipment (up to 50 lbs), including a nuclear densometer (25 lbs).
- ACI Certification:
- Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- Reinforced Concrete
- Structural Masonry
- Pre-stressed/Post-tensioned Concrete
- Structural Steel Bolting
- Structural Steel Welding
- AWS-CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) with construction inspection experience
- OBOA (Oregon Building Officials Association)
- WABO (Washington Association of Building Officials)
- ODOT Certifications
- Nuclear Density Gauge training and certification
- Minimum 2 years of construction inspection or materials testing experience
- Experience in at least one of the following:
- Concrete testing
- Reinforced concrete inspection
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Concrete and materials testing
- ACI/ICC certifications
- Structural masonry and concrete inspection
- Construction site compliance
- Welding and steel inspection (preferred)
- Familiarity with NDT (non-destructive testing) methods
Job Title: ICC Special Inspector
Description:
We are seeking an ICC Special Inspector with at least 2 years of experience and a valid Reinforced Concrete certification. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with a geotechnical engineering or materials testing firm. This role involves performing field inspections, testing, and observations during construction to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $50.00/hr.
