Responsibilities
The Auditor performs reviews of patient accounts and other corporate compliance matters as assigned, to ensure that coding, documentation, and other matters reviewed satisfy guidelines, standards, and other quality or compliance requirements. The Auditor also evaluates and assesses the internal practices and controls as assigned. The Auditor shall be knowledgeable about and provide recommendations regarding national coding guidelines and standards. The Auditor must be well organized with an eye for detail and possess a strong work ethic with the confidence and self-discipline to work independently, under minimal to moderate supervision.
The Auditor will perform audits in a professional manner with an understanding of the need for clear communications with staff and management during the entire audit process. Develop effective and practical recommendations for audit findings. Educate providers with updated AMA guidelines.Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and security regulations as evidenced by appropriate handling of sensitive information. Audit patient accounts in conjunction with clinical documentation integrity, coding, quality, and risk management. Maintain a positive, professional relationship with staff and management at all levels and at all times. Interface with the Hospital’s remote computer systems.Maintain strict confidentiality of all legal, compliance, and other matters.
Qualifications
• Associates degree• AAPC, Certified Professional Coder (CPC)• AAPC, Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), preferred
• Applying the principles and practices of coding practices and guidelines.• Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions.• Proficient understanding of medical terminology.• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.• Experience working with individuals at all levels of the organization.• Outstanding problem-solving and negotiating skills with a strong detail-orientation.• Demonstrated presentation skills with the ability to present to individuals at various levels of the organization.
