- Provide mid-level Configuration Management Specialist services for the Mars Sample Return (MSR) missions’ Capture, Containment and Return System (CCRS); this is an excellent opportunity to support the new Mars Sample Return mission, a fast-paced project which will result in returning the very first sample from another planet.
- Serve as a focal point to manage all CM related activities for CCRS.
- Coordinate and maintain a Configuration Management System which provides management and support to all CCRS stakeholder CM activities.
- Develop and implement Configuration Management procedures, required to manage the planning, identification, controlling, auditing and status accounting of all Configuration Management products in accordance with the GSFC ISO/Quality Management System.
- Coordinate and manage all Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and activities including generation of CCB agendas/minutes, distribute documentation for review, collect review comments, manage Configuration Control Requests (CCR) packages, manage CCR action items to closure, and track any related actions, as required.
- Maintain the Technical Data Management System (TDMS) database which provides support for all CM and data management activities.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and implement new technology/enhancements to the CM tool and CM processes.
- Develop, manage, and maintain the Contract Data/Deliverable Requirements Lists (CDRL) delivery process. Assist/cleanup metadata from vendors CDRLs, coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to manage comments during the review period.
- Support the receipt, review, disposition, and related distribution of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) items.
- Additional duties as required.
- Understand project and stakeholder roles and responsibilities needed to capture the requirement necessary to develop, implement, and maintain a project-related Configuration Management Procedure (CMP) in accordance with 400-PG-1410.2.1 Configuration Management Procedures and Guidelines” (PG), Code 400 Goddard Procedural Requirements, GPR 1410.2E, Configuration Management, and the GSFC ISO/Quality Management System.
- This position requires experience in the Configuration Management discipline, to include Configuration Change Requests, CDRL’s, GSFC drawings, and Work Order Authorizations.
- Other skills required are the knowledge and experience with the MSOffice Suite of programs and other types of management and CM related tools (must be proficient in MS Excel and MS Word).
- Pay close attention to detail.
- Self-starter with minimum oversight.
- Individual must be able to report on center, as needed, to satisfy the job requirements.
- Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job.
- Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related experience or six years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
