      35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required. We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns.       Department Description

      Hogan Lovells New Business Conflicts Department is charged with investigating legal conflicts of interest and firm business issues. If conflicts of interest or business issues are identified, the department is charged with rectifying those issues prior to the matter being approved by a partner on the Ethics Committee and a firm matter number being opened.

      Role Overview

      This position is responsible for working closely with the New Business Conflicts Supervisor, firm’s Ethics Committee, firm attorneys, and other levels of firm administration as well as other members of the New Business Conflicts Department in connection with the review of new business to identify and facilitate resolution of conflicts of interest.

      Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

      • Review of new business intake requests and collating the results of preliminary conflicts checks, ensure search terms and corporate hierarchy results are accurate and precise;
      • Research of new client matters, including the resolution and clearance of conflict of interest using Rules of Professional Conduct for various jurisdictions;
      • Coding of engagement letters pursuant to established guidelines and documenting of such actions in the conflicts database;
      • Coordinate the receipt, documentation, and preparation of engagement letters, client waivers and/or consents; in collaboration with firm attorneys;
      • Prepare and implement required screens/firewalls;
      • Secure approval of new matters from the Ethics Committee (including authorized approvers) and all other levels of Firm Administration as governed by existing clearance guidelines;
      • Provide guidance and feedback in the training and development of junior staff members;
      • Exercise proficiency in understanding and utilising the Conflicts Database;
      • Monitor and track various special interest projects; and
      • Assist the Conflicts team with a wide range of other requests and projects as may be assigned;
      • All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.
