We specialize in community, healthcare, corporate, and multifamily projects, serving clients throughout Minnesota and neighboring states. Our expertise includes general contracting, construction management, design-build, and preconstruction services.

      Currently RJM has an opening for a Construction Accountant. This position is responsible for providing accounting, analysis, and financial support to construction project teams. They will serve as the key financial liaison for the team as it relates to customer billings, vendor/subcontractor invoice processing, and financial project set up and closeout. This position is eligible for work from home a couple days per week after the initial training period.

      ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Work closely with project management from preconstruction through contr act completion to ensure project compliance, cost management, and proactive financial monitoring.
      • Review and analyze project contracts to ensure proper setup and allocation of the project’s key terms, conditions, and contractual requirements.
      • Process subcontractor applications for payment and vendor invoices for project management approval, ensuring proper coding to projects and phase codes.
      • Prepare customer monthly application and certificate for payment for assigned projects and ensure all costs are billed in a timely and accurate manner.
      • Ensure timely collection of customer payments by working closely with customers and project management.
      • Prepare project AP reports for project management approval and ensure timely payments to subcontractors and vendors.
      • Track subcontractor lien waivers and collect final statements of contract.
      • Communicate with customers and subcontractors/vendors related to payment status, project updates, and general inquiries.
      • Assist with project, corporate, insurance, and sales/use tax audits.
      • Understand potential implications of certified payroll, prevailing wage, minority participation, insurance, sales/use tax, and unclaimed property for assigned projects.
      • Demonstrate ability to build and maintain solid working relationships with project teams for assigned projects as well as the greater organization.
      • Perform additional project, tasks, and duties as assigned.

      Qualifications


      QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

      Education

      • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or business. Proven experience may be substituted for degree.

      Work Experience

      • 3+ years of previous accounting experience, construction accounting preferred.

      Demonstrated Technical Competencies to include:

      • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
      • Viewpoint Vista and GC Pay experience a plus
      • Ability to learn new systems quickly and implement problem solving strategies

      • Excellent organizational and time management skills with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail

      Compensation & Benefits:

      The per annum base pay range is $62,800 - $111,300. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. The position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include travel pay and/or a bonus or incentive program.
