      Title: Construction Engineer

      Division: Land Development

      Summary: The Construction Engineer is responsible for assisting a region specializing in construction services on Land Development projects. Services offered include Contract Administration, Construction Consulting, Construction Engineering & Inspection, Construction Management, QA/QC, Utility Coordination, Scheduling, and Pay Application/Change Order Review.

      General Responsibilities:

      • Review and understand plans for single-family residential and site development projects for constructability.
      • Perform bid quantity take offs, prepare bid schedules, and Engineers Opinion of Construction Costs.
      • Prepare pre-bid agenda and attend pre-bid meetings and bid opening meetings.
      • Prepare bid tabulation and check contractor references.
      • Prepare agenda and attend pre-construction meetings.
      • Review contractor material and shop drawing submittals for water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and paving.
      • Attend construction meetings and maintain/update project schedules.
      • Coordinate with land development project managers in preparation of meeting reports and letters.
      • Review pay application and change order requests from contractors. Perform site visits to verify billed quantities.
      • Schedule and attend the final inspection of projects and prepare a punch list of deficiencies.
      • Assist in the contract closeout process.
      • Schedule maintenance bond inspections and prepare a punch list of deficiencies.
      • Coordinate with municipalities and special districts that have jurisdictional authority applicable to projects.
      • Preform drone photography of construction projects.
      • Position will split time between the office and project sites.

      Required Education/Licenses:

      • Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management)
      • Must have a clear driving record (a DMV check will be conducted)
      • Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or ability to obtain)

      Required Experience:

      • Candidates must have 2-5 years’ experience in Land Development Engineering or Construction

      Other Requirements:

      • Ability to perform work on an active jobsite in safe and proficient manner.
      • Ability to always represent LJA and its Clients in a professional manner.
      • Travel required within the Dallas-Fort Worth area (no overnight travel, vehicle provided).
      • Job sites will have uneven ground and may require walking/standing for long periods of time.
      • Work in inclement (hot/cold/rain) weather.
      • Work non-standard hours/days, including weekend or holiday work on occasion.
      • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
      • Strong communication skills to interact with Clients, Contractors, and internal team members.
      • Skilled in time management and excellent organizational skills.
      • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relations.
