- Operate Mobile Sweepers to clean streets and PBL (Protected Bike Lane) locations on designated routes.
- Operate Rubber tire loaders to move materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Operate Backhoe in the ROW to load materials, emergency response, and removal of debris, snow, and ice storms, or to reset jersey barriers.
- Operate Tractor Mowers and or trucks to cut vegetation in the ROW.
- Operate rollers and related paving equipment.
- Troubleshoots and cleans equipment.
- Check oil, water, and tire pressure.
- Wash windows and wash off dirt or grease from machinery.
- Drive truck/trailer combinations to and from job sites, or move materials, equipment, and or supplies.
- Maintain timekeeping and data reporting.
- Act in a lead capacity at job sites where all other activities are secondary to equipment operation.
- Document daily activities, inspections, and accomplishments.
- Follow assigned sweeping routes and standards of speed, as well as sweeper operations.
- Operate equipment in emergency response situations such as snow and ice events, windstorms, civil unrest, and any other potential event.

- Experience operating mechanical, PBL, and regenerative mobile sweepers.
- Experience driving a truck and trailer with equipment loaded.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to dealing with all issues and people fairly, consistently, and equitably.
- Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations.
- Good work history and positive attendance.
- Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions. Exposed to dust, dirt, high noise levels, diesel and gas fumes, and engine exhaust. Moderate physical exertion is required to operate the equipment. Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds are sometimes required.
- Provide a Full driver's abstract record from the state of Washington Department of Licensing.
- Washington state driver's License, or equivalent mobility.
- Current CDL A with air brake restriction removed.
- Completed NEOGOV online application.
- Current résumé indicating relevant experience and education.

SDOT's Maintenance Operations Division (MOD) has two (2) new exciting Construction & Maintenance Equipment Operators (CMEO) opportunities. These positions require the application of appropriate guidelines, such as the operating procedures, to the specific equipment used. Knowledge of the operation, construction, and maintenance of equipment is required. These positions require the ability to operate motorized construction and maintenance equipment, their accessories, and heavy trucks for transporting construction and maintenance equipment. This position works in the Right of Way Maintenance Branch and will be at the forefront of implementing a year-round PBL (Protected Bike Lanes) Maintenance Schedule. The PBL network in the city is expanding, and staff in these roles will work with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to lead the way in PBL Maintenance. These positions will primarily be maintaining the Seattle Protected Bike Lane Network. This position reports to the Manager of Street Maintenance.Experience: One year of experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance or completion of a recognized course in construction and maintenance equipment operation, including practical operating experience and instruction in mechanical principles and general construction and maintenance procedures (combination of education, training, and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability).
OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties.

The City’s full salary range for this position is $ 41.25 - $ 44.74 per hour.
