      Ducks Unlimited, the leader in wetland conservation, is currently seeking a full-time Construction Project Manager to join our Great Lakes team in Dexter, MI. As Construction Project Manager, you will be an integral part of the planning, bidding, and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects throughout Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. This is a unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects that will have a lasting impact on our environment and the communities we serve.

      As a member of our team, you will work closely with engineers, biologists, and other conservation partners to deliver high-quality wetland restoration projects. You will help lead a growing team of engineers and technicians in the bidding and construction phases of restoration work. This will involve supervising field inspectors and technicians, developing and posting bid packages, providing cost estimates for construction and construction management, tracking budgets for construction and construction management, managing change orders and payment requisitions, and other tasks needed to keep wetland construction projects on schedule and within budget. Additionally, you will work closely with local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners to ensure the success of our projects.

      Specific duties include:

      • Supervise field inspectors and survey technicians
      • Coordinate with design engineers and biologists on project related tasks and budgets
      • Develop construction bid packages and bidders lists
      • Post bid packages and addendums to web-based procurement site
      • Develop independent construction and construction management cost estimates; track and manage budgets and coordinate with Regional Budget Managers
      • Develop and maintain structure/system for bid tabs to help inform estimating
      • Ensure payment requisitions and change order requests occur promptly and accurately
      • Track and inform budget manager on construction and construction management budgets; provide projections as needed for support of regional budget
      • Review permits, funding source requirements, and construction related issues such as prevailing wage, Buy American, etc.

      Qualifications

      Experience and Education: At least a two-year technical degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the engineering/construction industry is preferred. Candidates must have experience with construction project management, construction inspection, and familiarity with Autodesk Civil3D.

      Communication Skills: Demonstrated oral, written, and good communication skills are essential.

      Technological Proficiency: Desirable qualifications include experience with surveying (Trimble), Autodesk Civil3D, construction inspection, and project management.

      Interpersonal Skills: Must be self-motivated, goal oriented and able to work with and solve problems in close multidisciplinary team-based relationships.
