      Job summary

      Our Theatre and Anaesthetics Department are looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our Broomfield Hospital team on a permanent full time basis.

      You will work collaboratively with your fellow Consultants to provide a modern and comprehensive Anaesthetic, Pain and Perioperative Medicine service to our patients.

      Main duties of the job

      If successful, some of your duties will include:

      • Covering for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.Undertaking professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
      • Carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and for contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, both locally and nationally.
      • Participating in medical audit, and the Trust's Clinical Governance processes. There is a monthly departmental directorate meeting that occurs on Audit Days that consultants and speciality doctors are expected to attend.
      • Liaising with medical staff in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post-graduate activities of the hospital.
      • Taking part in the Royal College of Anaesthetists continuing medical education programme.
