- Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) within six months of interview
- Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview
- If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- FRCR (or equivalent) - For Clinical Oncologist
- MD or PhD equivalent
- Extensive training and broad experience in Medical or Clinical Oncology
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner
- Previous experience in the management of the site specific cancers applied for.
- Awareness of new developments in the specialty with the ability to assess critically the impact of these on the service
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
- Publications in Peer reviewed journals
- Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels
- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months of employment
- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
- Evidence of the understanding of the systems and structures of NHS Management
- Committed to and understands the principles of clinical governance
- Experience in performing clinical audit
- Understands the principles outlined in the GMC document Good Medical Practice
- Understands the requirements of Medical Appraisal and Revalidation
- Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project
- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)
- Good oral and written communication skills

Job summary
We are looking to appoint 01 whole time, Substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Lung Cancer to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Weston Park Cancer Centre, with outreach clinics within the SYBND cancer alliance.

There will be opportunities for successful applicant(s) to undertake clinical practice in a second sub-site by mutual agreement.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the posts; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Applicants interested in working in other cancer sites are requested to contact the Clinical Director to discuss this further.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues be responsible for the provision of cancer services across the above mentioned disease sites.
The appointee will join established multidisciplinary teams for these cancers.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in our acute oncology and on-call services rota which currently equates to 0.11 PA.The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.
