      Job summary

      Job Overview 0.3 WTE, 12-month Fixed term opportunity.

      We are advertising a part time Consultant Clinical Psychology post to provide leadership and oversight to the workforce within Mental Health Support Teams within the remit of psychological professions.

      We are looking for a clinical leader who is creative, visionary and who can bring energy and commitment to the service.

      Mental Health Support Teams have three main functions:

      Delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems utilising a Low Intensity CBT and Hi Intensity CBT based approach alongside wider psychoeducation and whole school promotion mental health activities.

      Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach.

      Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.

      The post holder will be a highly experienced clinical psychologist with extensive knowledge, skills and expertise in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental conditions in Children and Young People.

      The post holder must have significant experience practicing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and must be accredited by the BABCP.

      The post holder will be joining a supportive service with good levels of supervision and a personal development programme.

      Main duties of the job

      • To ensure the systemic provision of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
      • To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systemic governance of psychological practice
      • To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of other psychologists, including professionally qualified and unqualified staff.
      • To carry out audit, policy and service development and research activities and/or programmes.
      • To implement policy and service development changes within the area served by the team.
      • To provide a direct specialist clinical service which can include community and Inpatient services associated with this service.
      • To provide a specialist lead within the service; providing professional advice and support to management for the effective contribution of psychology.
      • To offer psychology staff within the service, leadership, professional supervision, advice and support
      • To be part of the senior manager on call rotation.

      We strongly encourage research and post qualification training and have good links with the department of psychology of Leicester University.
