- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in Dermatology or
- eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview or
- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
- Higher academic qualification eg MSc, MD, PhD
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in dermatology
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust's service strategy
- Up to date knowledge and experience of dermatology
- Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to dermatology
- Broad range of IT skills
- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
- Positive approach to evidence based practice
- Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) scheme and, where relevant, evidence of participation
- Knowledge of the principles involved in research
- Evidence of involvement in research
- Evidence of peer review research papers
- Ability to increase the academic profile of the department.
- Experience of teaching medical students.
- Experience of supervising trainees
- Knowledge of teaching to a multidisciplinary team
- Formal teaching qualification

Job summary
University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Consultant Dermatologist to the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI). The post will involve working alongside our existing highly motivated team of Dermatologists who deliver dermatological care to the population of Bristol and the surrounding area. Applicants wishing to work less than full time are encouraged to apply.
The post holder will be based at the Bristol Dermatology Centre in the BRI but the role may include sessions at Weston general Hospital or South Bristol Community Hospital. The Department is looking to recruit a consultant who's schedule will include set days working from the dermatology centre to provide the service stability for the clinical workforce, junior trainee team and large specialist nurse teams. Our current team of dermatologists includes Consultants, Associate Specialist supported by Speciality Registrars Clinical Fellows. The Bristol Dermatology Department is a large teaching hospital providing a full range of dermatological services for our local population as well as a regional service in paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, contact dermatitis, skin lymphoma and nail disease. As part ofan undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Trust, we are the main regional training centre for dermatology trainees.

Main duties of the job
There will be clinical sessions in general dermatology outpatient clinics, skin cancer clinics and skin surgery sessions. There may be some flexibility in sessions depending on clinical and service demands. Candidates with a subspecialist interest in paediatric dermatology are encouraged to applyand other subspecialist dermatology may be included depending on the skills and experience of the appointee.
Dermatology Surgery & Mohs
Skin cancer surgery is a large part of the departmental remit. Candidates with surgical skills will have full opportunity to be timetabled to undertake surgery at a level suitable for their training and experience.
