      Job summary

      Applications are invited for a Full time substantive Consultant Haematologist to undertake 10 PA's at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post also includes 1 PA for research lead. The post is available with immediate effect.

      Clinical and laboratory haematology work is conducted at both sites, with an inpatient unit for patients receiving high-intensity chemotherapy at St Helier. The Trust is a major provider of clinical teaching for St George's Hospital Medical School and has close links with the Royal Marsden Hospital for tertiary level haemato-oncology services.

      The successful candidate will join an established and enthusiastic team of 7.2 WTE consultants, and will be expected to be broadly skilled and to take part in clinical and laboratory duties at both St Helier and Epsom General Hospitals.All applicants must have full registration with the GMC and be a holder of the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent, or be within six months of the award of the CCT or equivalent on the date of interview.       Main duties of the job

      The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive Haematology service to patients.

      • To comply with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' at all times.
      • To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
      • To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Leads.
      • To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
      • On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction (or arranged Consultant Induction).
      • To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
      • To be responsible for the Clinical Management of in and out patients under your care.
      • To demonstrate flexibility according to departmental requirements after discussion with the Clinical Lead.

      • Participate in 3 out-patient clinics per week.

      • The appointee will have an office with own desk and personal computer. They will have access to a microscope, including 2- and 6- headed microscopes for teaching purposes.
