      Job summary

      Barts Health NHS Trust has a vision to be a high performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east Londonand beyond.We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Consultant Anaesthetist with a particular interest in ENT and Orthopaedics.We provide anaesthetic services across all our hospitals: The Royal London Hospital, Whipps CrossHospital, Newham Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital (Bart's).

      At the Royal London Hospital we provide: POA, Pain - acute and chronic, Trauma and orthopaedics, gynae-oncology, gynaecology, urology, HpB, colorectal, ENT, general and plastic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular,renal, maxillofacial, dental, paediatrics, obstetrics and interventional radiology.

      Main duties of the job

      This post is a substantive consultant post in Anaesthesia based at The Royal London Hospital; the successful candidate may be asked to cover surgical lists at other sites across the Trust if required. The post holder will be an employee of Bart's Health and there may be future opportunities or requirements to work at one of the other hospitals in the Bart's Health group.

      This is a general post with an interest in ENT and Orthopaedics for a consultant Anaesthetist. The appointee must be able to work flexibly and be able to cover all the specialties provided for at The Royal London Hospital.

      • GMC Registration
      • MBBS or equivalent
      • CCT in anaesthesia or equivalent or, if in training within 6 months of CCT
      • FRCA or equivalent .ALS/APLS

      • Experience of UK healthcare system
      • Experience in Anaesthesia for complex Orthopaedic Trauma patients

      Special Knowledge/ Abilities and/or Experience

      Essential

      • Extensive experience in a wide variety of anaesthesia, and the management of major trauma
      • Experience in the peri-operative care of patients including pain management
      • Audit experience

      Desirable

      • Experience in anaesthesia specialties in the job plan
      • Clinical management training
      • Experience in Clinical Governance
      • Experience in setting up courses for nursing/ AHP staff
