Emergency Medicine at Yeovil District Hospital: Rewarding, Balanced & Flexible

Love emergency medicine but tired of burnout? At Yeovil Hospital, we do things differently. We know that sustainability is key to a long and fulfilling career in EM, so we've built a job designed around work-life balance and flexibility.

      • 80% less-than-full-time as standard -- ideal for a portfolio career
      • Career break eligibility from day one
      • No shifts past 10:30 pm
      • High-acuity without the chaos

As a consultant in emergency medicine, you will deliver high-quality clinical care in a well-equipped ED, lead and support junior doctors, trainees and nursing staff, help our teams to shape the future of emergency care along with protected time for professional development. We encourage special interests such as ultrasound, pre-hospital care, education, and research (we count a past chief editor of a major regional emergency medicine journal in our staff).

      • Download the full job specification from the supporting documents section. It is the standard consultant offer. We also offer the standard joining and relocation bonus other trusts offer.

      Main duties of the job

You will be expected to provide excellent clinical leadership, consultant delivered care and consultant led review clinics.

A list of main duties can be found on the job description.

We really value the impact that you as a Consultant will have on our patients and services; we therefore offer an enhanced benefits package (subject to criteria) which includes:

      A generous relocation package

4 hours of paid time for professional development every week (SPA)

700 personal budget for training and development every year

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
