During the second of these two "on-call" weeks the post-holder will also provide a neonatal surgery outreach service at Birmingham Women's Hospital. This neonatal surgical outreach service is supported by specialist neonatal surgery outreach nurses and is a patient review service, with no surgery taking place at the Birmingham Women's Hospital. These commitments match the current working pattern of the substantive consultants in the department.
The job plan will also include 1.5 SPAs and an allocation for administration and ward rounds. Within these sessions the Post Holder will be expected to attend the departmental Grand Round on a Friday morning. Non clinically, the successful applicant will be expected to support the education and research programs within the department.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
