- MRCP or equivalent (MRCGP/MRCS)
- Management training qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in a field related to Neurorehabilitation
- Additional clinical qualifications
- Registered as a Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine and on the GMC Specialist Register
- or a trainee within six months of completing their CCT
- or on the GMC specialist register through CESR or European Community Rights
- As part of their training, at least 24 months SpR/ST training in neurorehabilitation or ability to demonstrate the relevant competencies
- Wide clinical experience of Neurorehabilitation with exposure to specialities in training
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Experience in outreach work
- Experience in injecting botulinum toxin for the management of spasticity
- Works in partnership with patients, always considers patients preferences when discussing treatment options
- Special interest as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies within Rehabilitation
- Experience of multi-agency work especially with user, carer and voluntary organisations
- Experience in service management and development
- Demonstrates understanding of the principles of research, evidence of relevant academic and research achievements
- ALS certificate
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training

Job summary
This is a full time post of 10 Programmed Activities per week as per consultant contract for England. Part time applicants are welcome to apply and sessions are negotiable. The duties will include:
Outpatient clinic (3.5 PAs)
Please note, clinics have 3 hours of face-to-face time and an hour of clinical admin time.
Outreach visits/clinics (2 PA)
Inpatient session (2 PA)
Clinical admin
SPA/CPD/ Revalidation activity (2 PAs)
Out of hours off-site on-call duties for Walkergate Park wards 3 and 4 as second on call, to either FY2, clinical fellows, rehab trainees or psychiatry trainees. This currently operates in a 1 in 7 rota; Band B, 2%.
The rehabilitation service works closely with the services provided from Neuropsychiatry and the Neurobehavioural service and together they form the Neurological Services within the Specialist Services Directorate.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be based at Walkergate Park which is designated as a Level 1 Rehabilitation centre by NHS England. They will join an established team of Consultants and Associate Specialists, and MDT. They will work across community, outpatients, inpatients and liaison services. The work is reflected in the job timetable and outlined in this document but it is expected to cover OP MS rehabilitation, outreach and community head injury rehabilitation work.
The Neurorehabilitation service provides highly specialised and integrated multidisciplinary rehabilitation for 35 inpatients with acquired neurological disability. It works jointly with neuropsychiatrists to provide neurobehavioural rehabilitation for 14 inpatients. Specialist nursing and medical expertise is applied to allow patients to benefit from highly structured and flexible rehabilitation programmes delivered by experienced and dedicated teams of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuro-psychologists, social and recreational therapists and related disciplines. The patients' rehabilitation programmes are categorised to allow access to the most appropriate programme to meet their chosen goals and to address physical, cognitive and emotional problems according to priority of need.
