      This Opportunity

      WSP USA is currently seeking a Consultant, Transportation Planner to make a significant contribution to WSP USA’s strategic plan to increase our project management and business development capability. The Consultant, Transportation Planner will conduct transportation planning studies and analysis, in the Southeast United States, and be based out of the New Orleans's office. Responsibilities will involve conducting a wide range of transportation planning and land use efforts including corridor studies, data analytics, comprehensive transportation plans, master transit plans, travel demand modeling, cost estimating and long range transportation plans.

      Your Impact

      • Conducts or assists with a range of transportation planning studies, including needs assessments, modal analyses, traffic studies, community impact assessments, and long-range planning.
      • Collecting, analyzing and interpreting data (i.e. economic, demographic, land use, fiscal, etc.) and using data management tools such as access or tableau
      • Composing correspondence and reports for project activities
      • Technical writing and report preparation
      • Assisting with managing project tasks, including staffing, budget and quality
      • Participating and coordinating public and stakeholder public meetings and public participation/outreach processes
      • Successfully delivering projects
      • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

      Who You Are

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)
      • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in urban, land use, transportation planning
      • Experience working with local governments, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, state Departments of Transportation, and transit agencies
      • Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas orally and in written form
      • Critical, strategic and creative thinking skills
      • Graphical skills (i.e. InDesign, Adobe Suite)
      • Ability to gather and analyze data critically and develop supporting information and reports
      • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience working with transportation agencies and understanding federal and state planning regulations and policies
      • Well-versed in Adobe Illustrator and ArcGIS
