      If you are interested in leading ICF's work on research and evaluation of UK policies relating to science and technology, transport and infrastructure, and net zero, please read on.
      This is a director-level appointment for which we are looking for someone with a strong track record of design and leadership of evaluations and policy studies on related topics, and proven experience in building and leading teams, and in the commercial and management aspects of such services. Your experience could have been gained in consulting, government or research.
      You will bring an entrepreneurial, energetic, and organised approach, with an ability to see the many dimensions of a policy problem, and engage and work with leading thematic experts.
      You thrive in a fast-paced environment, are self-motivated and able to manage a varied workload without compromising quality. You have a wide range of interests and are able to develop a nuanced understanding of complex issues. You are experienced in applying best practice research and evaluation methodologies, in drafting high quality reports and providing insight, support and advice to government officials. You enjoy building winning proposals, and embrace the challenge of helping to grow a research and evaluation business.
      You will join a diverse, dynamic and collegial team who are passionate about working on some of the most complex and challenging problems facing the UK Government. We have a portfolio of important assignments in these policy areas and are excited about the future for this dynamic segment of the market.
      This role will involve being responsible for:

      The high-level ownership and oversight of selected UK client accounts (DESNZ, DSIT and DfT) by playing a leading role in growing our UK research and evaluation offer for these accounts

      Directing proposals for these accounts (including building teams, developing methodologies and budgets) that secure at least $1.5m SR in annual sales from competitively tendered contracts

      Directing projects for these accounts, and other accounts as appropriate, providing technical leadership and financial oversight and support, leading project teams (including subcontractors), and overseeing the delivery of high-quality project outputs

      Supporting and developing the team that serves these clients, including identifying talent requirements, supporting career development and ensuring effective performance management

      Developing and proactively managing our strategy for this area, building client relationships and managing advance capture for opportunities that will help us to grow

      Contributing to practice leadership and wider team development

      Strengthening our methodological capabilities and domain expertise to help us succeed in this market
      You will have:

      At least fifteen years of relevant professional experience

      Expertise in UK policy research and evaluation on at least one of the following areas: science & technology, business, infrastructure, net zero policies.

      Excellent analytical skills

      Excellent communication skills

      Strong commercial skills and business acumen

      Experience in managing large and complex projects/teams

      Experience in proactive client engagement and leading competitive bids

      Ability to develop and convey expertise on a topic

      A relevant university degree
