Job Description

- Maintaining a debt collection queue using the support framework designed.
- Achieving collection goals set by management.
- Understanding and adhering to client guidelines.
- Maintaining daily call volumes.
- Locates and notifies customers of delinquent accounts by mail or telephone to solicit payment.
- Maintains records of collection and status of accounts.
- Locates and monitors overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.
- Records information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.
- Confers with customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of sales, service, or credit contracts.
- Advises customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
- Persuades customers to pay amounts due on credit accounts, damage claims, or non-payable checks.
- Traces delinquent customers to new addresses by inquiring at post offices, telephone companies, credit bureaus, or through the questioning of neighbors.
- Responsible for researching all debtors assigned.
- Performs data entry, documentation, and maintenance of customer account(s).
- Reads, comprehends and adheres to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Reads, comprehends, and adheres to any and all applicable International Organization for Standardization (ISO) policies.
The Consumer Collection Representative is responsible for researching and collecting delinquent accounts for McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff, Inc. (MB&W). This position uses Dialer strategies.
Essential Job Functions
Knowledge: 6+ months of experience in the Collection Industry or call center/customer service experience.
Skills/Aptitudes: Organized and detail oriented with the demonstrated ability to focus and research detailed documentation. Internet, Microsoft Outlook capabilities. Minimal collection, appointment setting and/or telemarketing experience.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to prioritize conflicting demands, take initiative, work proactively and be resourceful; outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a diverse set of personalities and a strong client focus; and self-starter with a desire to grow/learn.
