      The Content Writer & Digital Engagement Strategist supports the development of impactful content that drives engagement and conversion across digital and traditional platforms. This role plays a key role in ensuring content aligns with Arizona Online’s best practices in content marketing, SEO, and audience engagement. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Content Strategy, this individual will assist in creating data-driven content that resonates with prospective students, institutional partners, and external stakeholders. Additionally, they will support Marketing & Brand Development initiatives through tasks such as ideation, copywriting, email marketing, and other content-related duties as needed.

      Duties & Responsibilities

      Content Creation & Strategy:

      • Assist with writing, editing, and publishing content for new program pages, blog posts, email campaigns, and landing pages that support conversion goals.
      • Support the development of content strategies that align with Arizona Online’s marketing objectives.
      • Help create user-centric, SEO-informed content that contributes to improved search visibility and organic traffic.
      • Contribute to storytelling efforts that support Arizona Online’s brand narrative and audience engagement.
      • Provide support on digital content and email marketing projects for the Marketing & Brand Development team as needed.

      Digital & Social Media Content:

      • Use audience insights, platform trends, and analytics to assist with content development.
      • Support the planning and help coordinate content campaigns that contribute to enrollment, student retention, and brand positioning.
      • Assist with creating and testing social media content across all Arizona Online platforms, working with agency and internal support teams to help drive engagement.

      SEO & Analytics:

      • Collaborate with the agency partner to support SEO best practices, such as keyword research, metadata updates, and content structuring.
      • Help gather and review analytics using tools like Google Analytics, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc. to support performance reporting.
      • Track content engagement and conversion metrics and provide preliminary insights or recommendations based on findings.

      Collaboration & Project Management:

      • Work with marketing, creative, and technical teams to support the development of on-brand, high-performing content.
      • Collaborate with university stakeholders to help align messaging with institutional priorities.
      • Maintain content calendars, track project timelines, and assist with workflows under guidance in a fast-paced environment.
      • Help coordinate student content contributors and offer basic editorial feedback with direction from senior team members.

      Event & Brand Communications:

      • Assist with communications efforts for University events such as Commencement and New Student Convocation, including helping with speechwriting and event scripting.
      • Contribute to the development of key messaging and thought leadership content that support and enhance Arizona Online’s reputation.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

      • Strong knowledge of SEO, web content best practices, and digital marketing trends.
      • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an ability to create persuasive, engaging content.
      • Working knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and marketing automation platforms.
      • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics, SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, Moz), and social media analytics.
      • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects with guidance as needed.
      • Skilled communicator with the ability to understand the nuances of digital education marketing, user experience, and evolving content trends.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor’s degree in communication, English, journalism, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
      • Three years of experience in content writing, digital marketing, or content strategy.

      OR

      • Equivalent combination of education and work experience.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience working in or with online education, higher education marketing, or enrollment communications.
      • Experience supporting audience research, competitive analysis, and performance reporting.
      • Experience managing content across multiple platforms, including web, email, and social media.
      • Experience with how prospective students explore and select online education programs, particularly those designed for non-traditional learners.
      • Experience supporting content teams focused on driving student engagement and success through compelling storytelling and data-informed strategies.
