      Continuing Education - Cake Decorating

      We are looking for qualified professionals to teach courses in our:

      Drawing Courses – Cake Decorating Instructor -
      In Person

      Mohawk College offers a variety of programs, courses and workshops through Continuing Education. Courses are offered in a variety of delivery methods including online, in-class and in a blended format.

      Courses are scheduled on a part-time basis including evenings, weekends and online. Prospective candidates must be available during these time periods. Continuing Education Faculty teach approximately 3-6 hrs/week.

      In-Class Teaching opportunities are available within the following programs and/or academic disciplines:

      Cake Decorating

      Ability to teach the following Cake Decorating skills:

      • Fundamentals of Cake Decorating
      • Levelling, filling, smoothing and combining cakes
      • Essential skills for decorating – piping techniques, flowers and more
      • Pipe lines and borders

      What you’ll be doing:

      • Preparing materials that fulfill the course learning outcomes, planning lessons, developing assessments that reflect the integrated nature of the curriculum.
      • Delivering the course(s) as described in the curriculum provided by the Program Manager.
      • Ensuring the integrity of the content being delivered is upheld.
      • Posting online content, facilitating student discussion groups and responding electronically to students within 48 hours.
      • Evaluating student progress against the learning outcomes.
      • Maintaining records and utilizing Mohawk data systems for grading, course updates etc.
      • Ensuring adherence to Mohawk Colleges’ Policies and Procedures at all times.

      What you’ll bring to the role:

      • 3-5 years of work experience in course subject.
      • Excellent written and communication skills.
      • Post-secondary teaching, training and/or experience considered a strong asset.
      • Online teaching or learning experience is considered a strong asset.
      • Familiarity with My Canvas or any learning management system considered a strong asset.

      The candidate should have experience and knowledge of the intersections of indigenous education, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Equity Diversity and Inclusion as they relate broadly to curriculum/program development and teaching and learning.
